Vaccine Reactions Leading to CIDP
Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (commonly abbreviated as CIDP) is an autoimmune condition that is neurological in nature and caused by foreign elements attacking a person’s immune system. CIDP involves the increased feelings of weakness and decreased function of legs and arms. It can also potentially affect a person’s face and eyesight. CIDP sometimes is described as a chronic form of GBS.
Depending on the person, this condition can be chronic. It may be treated with a combination of corticosteroids immunosuppressant drugs. Plasma exchange and IVIG physiotherapy have also benefitted patients with CIDP.
What are symptoms of CIPD?
There are numerous symptoms associated with CIDP. These symptoms can include:
- Tingling sensations or feelings of weakness in a person’s hands or feet
- Impaired motor functions
- Reduction of tendon reflexes
- Facial paralysis
Vaccines can cause CIPD. Did this happen to you?
One of the ways foreign elements can enter a person’s immune system is through a vaccine such as a flu vaccine. While most people don’t experience adverse reactions to vaccines, a small percentage of people may experience an adverse neurological reaction. If this has happened to you, you may be entitled to compensation.
The federal government established the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program in the 1980s to provide a system for people harmed by vaccines to obtain compensation. Cases handled through this program go through the Vaccine Court. At Jeffrey S. Pop & Associates, we have extensive experience with vaccine injury cases including CIPD injuries.
If you or your loved one experienced CIDP symptoms following a vaccination, then you may be entitled to monetary compensation.
