What Is a Vaccine Injury?
A vaccine injury is an adverse event causally linked to a covered vaccine. These injuries range from injection-site reactions and temporary symptoms to serious conditions including anaphylaxis, neurological disorders, and, in rare cases, death. While vaccines are designed to produce a protective immune response, that same immune response can occasionally cause unintended harm in a small percentage of recipients.
The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP)
The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program is a federal no-fault system established under the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act. The program began accepting claims in 1988 and has paid more than $5.4 billion in compensation to vaccine-injured individuals since its inception. The VICP allows claimants to seek compensation without suing vaccine manufacturers or healthcare providers directly. To qualify, an injury generally must last more than six months, require inpatient hospitalization and surgical treatment, or result in death and must be supported by medical documentation.

Vaccine Injury Lawyers Serving Nationwide Clients
Federal Vaccine Injury Claims Handled Exclusively & Across All 50 States
Vaccines have played a crucial role in public health by preventing the spread of infectious diseases such as polio, measles, and influenza. Many once-deadly illnesses have been effectively controlled or eradicated thanks to widespread vaccination programs.
Vaccines are generally considered a safe and effective way to combat common, contagious diseases. Nevertheless, a small percentage of people develop serious adverse reactions. Side effects are rare but may include life-threatening allergic reactions, neurological conditions, seizures, and even death. Some individuals suffer arm or shoulder injuries from vaccinations, such as Shoulder Arm Injury (SIRVA).
At Jeffrey S. Pop & Associates, vaccine injury litigation is all we do. We’re licensed to practice in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. That is where National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) petitions are filed, regardless of where in the country a vaccination occurred. Our clients pay nothing out of pocket. The VICP covers legal fees for petitioners, and we’ve achieved a success rate of over 90%* across our cases. Whether you’re dealing with a neurological disorder, a shoulder injury, or another serious adverse reaction, we work to pursue the compensation you deserve.
Conditions we handle include Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), Transverse Myelitis (TM), SIRVA, and other serious adverse vaccine reactions. Each condition has a dedicated page on this site with condition-specific legal and medical context.
